A year ago last October, the woman who instilled in me a love for fantasy and reading passed on after a third round with cancer. She was as brave a heroine as any I had ever dreamed of in my imaginations and reading. More fierce than a dragon, more brave than a warrior, and more magical than a dreamweaver. She was my mother, the women that adopted me as a baby and raised me along with four other adopted siblings. Our adopted father was ill most of our lives with MS and Diabetes so mother raised five children, performed around the world, and worked full time. She must have been exhausted! But, she never complained, not once. She is but one of the loved ones lost to cancer and I hope that a cure can be found so nobody else has to endure this horrific type of loss.
I am myself a survivor of cancer twice over now and has also worked many years in the nursing field so have been on all sides of the nightmare of the big C. I will continue to relay and continue to strive to help raise money to fund research to beat cancer once and for all! And that folks, is why I relay.
I present to you this sweet mermaid of hope that perhaps will bring a smile so someone's face. Come to the Fantasy Faire, live out your dreams, be as brave, beautiful, wise, etc, as you want to be. The beauty of Second Life is we can be ANYTHING we want to be!
